NEWARK, N.J. – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez released the following statement in reaction to today’s tragic high school shooting in Santa Fe, Texas:

“My thoughts and prayers are with the students, families and first responders in Santa Fe, Texas. But thoughts and prayers are not enough. Just three months after the tragedy in Parkland, Fla., sadly, more blood has been shed and more lives senselessly taken inside an American school at the hand of a gunman. We can’t allow these repeated school tragedies to become the norm here in the United States. Congress must get serious about commonsense gun safety reform, and those who fail to act must be held accountable. We owe it to the students in Santa Fe, Parkland, Newtown, Columbine and every other school to ensure this never happens again.”
