Menendez Secures $181M for Community Projects Across NJ

“This is a major investment in communities across New Jersey, which will improve the quality of life for hardworking families, create good-paying jobs, and ensure our state continues to be one of the greatest places to live, work, and raise a family,” said Sen. Menendez. “From flood mitigation and public safety to transportation and education, these projects will have meaningful impacts on communities from Bergen to Cape May counties. I’m proud these projects were included in the funding bill and I will continue fighting to ensure our state has the resources to complete transformative projects like these.”

Sen. Menendez, alongside Sen. Cory Booker, were able to secure tens of millions of dollars for key community projects in cities and townships across New Jersey including Newark, Passaic, Bayonne, Patterson, Lakewood, Clayton, Cape May and Mount Holy; and for countywide projects in Burlington County, Union County and Hudson County, just to name a few.

Funding for other community projects secured by Sen. Menendez include:

• $1,790,000 for the City of Englewood to purchase portable radios, mobile radios and improve interoperability.
  
  

• $1,000,000 for the City of Trenton to open and operate the Trenton RISE Center, with the main goal of fostering trust between the police department and city youth.

• $1,200,000 for the County of Burlington to upgrade of countywide emergency communications system.

• $1,000,000 for Inspira Health Network to purchase equipment and expand and enhance services in Cumberland County that will impact youth directly to prevent youth violence.

• $1,333,000 for the Town of Newton to purchase and install upgraded interoperable 911 emergency communications response systems.

• $1,000,000 for the Borough of Carteret to renovate and expand the Carteret Office of Emergency Management (OEM) building.

• $1,112,000 for Middlesex County to identify and address gaps in flood resiliency planning within the Southern Middlesex region.

• $10,000,000 for the City of North Wildwood to extend the seawall in North Wildwood.

• $3,452,000 for North Bergen to mitigate storm water runoff on Tonnelle Ave.

• $2,170,000 for the City of Elizabeth for the replacement of lead service lines.

• $3,452,000 for the City of Hackensack for a combined sewer separation project.

• $3,300,000 for Holy Name Hospital to establish a Graduate Medical Education Center.

• $1,000,000 for the City of Newark for construction and renovation of community health clinic at the Speedway Avenue School.

• $1,000,000 for William Patterson University for scholarships for students impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

• $5,100,000 for Atlantic City International Airport to construct new Base Main Entry Control Facility.

• $4,000,000 for the City of Passaic for construction of a parking deck located at the corner of State and Passaic Street.

• $3,550,000 for the City of Newark to renovate and upgrade the historic Lincoln Park to accelerate the redevelopment of the Lincoln Park Neighborhood.

• $1,750,000 for Hudson County for improvements to County Road 653/County Avenue in Secaucus.

• $3,000,000 for the Township of Edison to create recreation and meeting space for seniors within the township.

• $3,000,000 for Burlington County Human Services for the construction of a homeless shelter in Westampton.

• $2,600,000 for the Township of South Brunswick for the construction and equipment for intersection improvements to the U.S. Rt. 1 & Ridge Rd. signalized intersection.

• $1,500,000 for the Township of Woodbridge to purchase electric shuttle buses to facilitate access to downtown.
