Newark - U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today attended the grand re-opening and ribbon cutting of Ocean Health Initiative's (OHI) newly renovated Lakewood facility. This state-of-the art center will provide families and underserved residents of Ocean County with a full range of quality health services. Over the last decade, OHI has expanded and improved its facilities to better meet the healthcare needs of Lakewood residents. Menendez was joined by state Senator Robert W. Singer and Lakewood Mayor Menashe Miller.

"I am so proud to be a part of this re-opening at Ocean Health Initiative, an organization of health care champions who work hard every day to provide care for anyone who comes through their doors," said Senator Menendez. "This beautiful new Lakewood facility, one of the three sites within the Ocean Health Initiative, is a state-of-the-art health care facility that will offer high quality primary, dental, pediatric and OB/GYN medical care, as well as comprehensive social services to address a range of patient needs. Ocean Health Initiative was doing great work before these renovations, so I am excited to see how many more people they will effectively serve with this larger space."

The renovations were made possible with a portion of the $4.7 million Facility Investment Program (FIP), offered through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009. The grant provided funding for the addition of two stories, including 20 exams rooms, an administrative area, and a new state-of-the art 8,000 square-foot OB/GYN and Pediatric wing. The renovation and alteration of existing site cumulated the addition of 16,000 square feet. The added space has allowed OHI to expand its service hours, increase its ability to see more patients annually, and add to its existing primary care services.
