Washington - U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today cast another vote in favor of transitioning America's mission in Iraq and withdrawing U.S. troops. He supported Sen. Russ Feingold's (D-WI) amendment that would provide resources for U.S. troops until March 31, 2008, at which point they would have to be withdrawn from Iraq unless certain specific conditions are met.

"I will continue to support efforts in the Senate to hold the president's feet to the fire on Iraq," said Sen. Menendez. "He cannot continue to be given a blank check to continue the war in Iraq indefinitely. The only viable solution is a political solution, not a military one."

The Feingold amendment did not gain the 60 votes necessary to invoke cloture and limit debate on the matter.
