WASHINGTON, D.C. — Following impassioned requests this evening by Senators Bob Menendez and John Cornyn (R-Texas) for the Senate to pass their bipartisan National Museum of the American Latino Act by unanimous consent, U.S. Senator Mike Lee (R-Utah) blocked the measure, brazenly claiming it “divisive” and “separate but equal.”  The legislation has overwhelming support in the Senate and passed the House of Representatives unanimously, but a single Senator can thwart a bill from being passed by unanimous consent.
