NEWARK, N.J. – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, today saluted 183 brave New Jersey National Guardsmen and women during a farewell ceremony ahead of their one-year, active duty deployment to the Horn of Africa in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

“As the Ranking Member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, I understand that what happens around the world increasingly impacts the economic well-being and security of the American people at home. The Horn of Africa is a sensitive region, and your deployment will play a critical role in U.S. Africa Command’s efforts to protect America’s economic and security interests there.” said Sen. Menendez.
