EDISON, NJ – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez today called for an immediate, emergency session of Congress to approve federal funding to respond to the growing Zika public health crisis. For him, the senator said this is personal. His daughter, Alicia, is five months pregnant with his first grandchild and lives in Miami, ground zero for homegrown transmission of the Zika virus in the U.S.

Sen. Menendez stood at the banks of a retention pond near Dismal Swamp in Edison and watched as Middlesex County Mosquito Control stocked it with larvae-eating fish to keep mosquitoes at bay.
