Sens. Menendez, Booker Announce Over $190,000 for Irvington, Rocky Hill, Hasbrouck Heights Fire Departments

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-NJ) today announced federal grant awards totaling $191,579 for fire departments in Irvington, Rocky Hill, and Hasbrouck Heights through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program.

"Our fire departments need this funding so they can invest in more protective safety equipment and advanced training to protect New Jersey's brave firefighters,"said Sen. Menendez."I am committed to ensuring our first responders are fully prepared for emergency situations and to protect the lives of New Jerseyans."

"These grants will enable these fire departments to advance their operations and offer programs that educate New Jerseyans," said Sen. Booker. "Ensuring that our brave first responders have the equipment and training they need to serve the public in emergencies is of the upmost importance to me and I am pleased that these funds are coming to New Jersey."

The specific grant awards follow:

  • $157,878 will go to Irvington Township Fire Department for its department safety and operations
  • $19,926 will go to Rocky Hill Fire Department's Hook and Ladder Co. No. 1 for its department safety and operations
  • $13,775 will go to Hasbrouck Height Fire Department for its fire prevention program

The AFG program provides funding to enhance response capabilities, as well as to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel.
