WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-NJ) today announced U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) grant awards totaling $3,643,010 to identify airport needs, construct aprons, and clear runways at three New Jersey airports.

"This funding will allow our state to meet its critical transportation needs and to grow its economy," said Sen. Menendez. "I am committed to making sure that New Jersey's airports run safely and efficiently so they can maintain their competitive edge."

"I am committed to supporting the growth and expansion of our regional airports because investing in infrastructure will help keep passengers safe and good jobs in New Jersey," said Sen. Booker.

The specific grant awards follow:

  • $39,000 will go to Atlantic City International Airport for the update of the airport master plan to identify future airport needs
  • $200,000 will go to Essex County Airport to remove obstructions on two runways
  • $3,404,010 will go to Newark Liberty International Airport for the construction of a new apron that will provide additional aircraft parking
