Senator Robert Menendez Remembers Former Mayor Randy Primas

WASHINGTON - Senator Robert Menendez today issued the following statement on the passing of Former Camden Mayor and C.O.O. Randy Primas:

"I am deeply saddened by the death of a former colleague and good friend with whom I worked closely over the years. When Randy was Mayor of Camden and I was Mayor of Union City, we worked closely together on many issues and became friends. He had a successful career in the private sector, but he believed in public service and giving back to the community, serving under Governor Florio as Commissioner of the Department of Community Affairs.

"As Camden's first African-American Mayor and Chief Operating Officer of the City, he was devoted to his community and to the people he served. I knew Randy, and I know he cared about Camden, about government, about making it work, about always representing the best interests of his beloved city. Every day he served, he went to work believing he could make a difference for Camden, and he did. His commitment, his contribution, and his service will be missed by all of us. Today, our thoughts and prayers are with his family."
