Senator Menendez's Statement in Honor of Veterans Day

Washington - U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today released the following statement ahead of Veterans Day to honor of the men and women who serve in the United States Armed Forces:

"This Veterans Day, I hope all New Jerseyans will join me in showing our deep appreciation for the men and women of the United States Armed Forces. At this very moment, there are men and women stationed across the globe, many of them in harm's way, to protect our great nation. My thoughts and prayers are with them and their families.

"How we take care of our veterans and their families defines who we are as a nation. This Veterans Day, let us recommit ourselves to delivering on the promises our nation has made to its veterans.

"Delivering on our promises means ensuring that veterans have access to the best health care available and taking care of those who were wounded in action or suffered a disability. Delivering on our promises means that we are there for our servicemen and women who struggle with post-traumatic stress disorder or who are having a tough time transitioning back home. It means that we are there for the families of veterans who silently, but graciously, deal with the absence of their loved ones. And delivering on our promises means that we help our veterans make a smooth transition from the battlefield to the workforce. Men and women who fought for our nation should not have to fight for a job.

"So to our nation's veterans -- those who selflessly and proudly volunteer their service to defend our democracy, our freedom and our values -- thank you. Your heroism continues to inspire generations. And I pledge to continue working in the United States Senate to ensure that our grateful nation delivers on these promises to you."
