Senator Menendez On First DREAM Act Hearing

Senator Menendez On First DREAM Act Hearing

Washington - Today, the Senate Judiciary Committee Subcommittee on Immigration, Refugees and Border Security held a hearing on the Dream Act, legislation that would give undocumented students a chance to register for legal status if they came here as children, are long-term U.S. residents, have good moral character and complete two years of college or military service.

"Children should not be punished for the actions of their parents. These kids have grown up as Americans, worked hard in school and now they want to serve our country in the military or pursue a college education. This is the only home many of them have known and they should be encouraged to pursue the American dream. Today's hearing is an important step in the right direction and puts us one step closer to seeing this bill and the dream of many turning into reality"
