WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today announced two awards from the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program totaling $130,545 for volunteer fire companies serving Pedricktown and West Deptford.

"Our firefighters are at the ready to respond to any emergency that can occur in our communities," said Senator Menendez. "It is only right that we support their efforts to obtain the equipment and training firefighters need to do their jobs safely and effectively. That's the objective of the AFG program, and why I am committed to fighting for this program on behalf of our firefighters who protect our communities."

From the AFG awards announced today, the Logan Volunteer Fire Company in Pedricktown will receive a $31,745 AFG grant for operations and safety; and

The Green Field Volunteer Fire Company in West Deptford will receive a $98,800 AFG grant for operations and safety.

The AFG program provides funding to enhance response capabilities, as well as to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel. These grants can be invested in training, protective equipment, fitness programs, modifications to facilities, and supplies that support firefighting operations and safety.
