Sen. Menendez on Janet Yellen Becoming Federal Reserve Chair

WASHINGTON, DC - As Janet Yellen is sworn in as Chair of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors, U.S. Senator Robert Menendez today issued the following statement:

"I'm pleased the extremely qualified Janet Yellen today becomes the first woman to lead the Federal Reserve," said Sen. Menendez, member of the Senate Banking Committee. "I am optimistic about her chairmanship and during her tenure hope to see the Fed focusing on broad-based economic recovery, job growth, and strong financial regulation and financial stability above all else. As she blazes a trail for women, I would also like to thank outgoing Chair Ben Bernanke for his service to our country during extraordinarily challenging times."
