NEWARK, N.J. – One week before the start of Passover, U.S. Senator Bob Menendez toured Manischewitz’s Newark corporate headquarters and manufacturing plant, where he saw firsthand how matzah is made and highlighted trade policies he’s advanced in Washington that are helping New Jersey businesses expand and create jobs.

“The Manischewitz brand is known all over the world, but it’s made right here in New Jersey,” said Sen. Menendez. “Manischewitz is always looking to improve and reach more customers wherever they may live, and is exactly the kind of New Jersey business that I’m working in the Senate to help grow and expand. I stand ready to help Manischewitz and other New Jersey businesses navigate the various federal programs available to open access to foreign markets and increase exports so they can grow and create jobs here in the state.”

The Senator touted programs like the Export-Import Bank, the International Trade Administration and the New Jersey State Trade Expansion Program, to name a few, that are designed to help businesses like Manischewitz navigate the complex world of international trade.

"We are delighted and honored to have Senator Bob Menendez at The Manischewitz Company to celebrate his support of our company,” said CEO David Sugarman, who indicated the company’s desire to expand its exports. “With Passover next week, the timing is perfect to host him in our facility."

Founded in in 1888, Manischewitz opened its first New Jersey factory in Jersey City in 1932 and moved its headquarters to Newark in 2011. It is the nation’s largest manufacturer of processed kosher food products and the world’s number one baker of matzah, employing hundreds at its 200,000-square-foot Newark facility and Mount Olive distribution center.
