NEWARK, N.J. – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez today released a statement on President Trump’s plan to deal with skyrocketing prescription drug prices.

“President Trump may have campaigned on the promise to take on the drug industry, but he's spent the last year and a half working with his Republican allies to undermine our health care system while giving tax breaks to big pharmaceutical companies that are using them for stock buybacks rather than lowering the cost of drugs.

“So, now, he's asking us to believe he's committed to reining in skyrocketing drug prices that are squeezing middle class families with a plan that once again puts pharmaceutical execs ahead of patients.

“We need real solutions that will help New Jerseyans at their pharmacy counters now.

“And we can get this done. There are bills like the CREATES Act right now that would end the gaming of the system by brand name companies to keep cheaper generics from coming to market. This would have real, immediate impact for patients.”
