WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez released the following statement today on the passing of former State Senator Henry McNamara:

“Hank McNamara was a true visionary and an exceptional leader in New Jersey and his presence will be greatly missed. Although on opposite sides of the aisle, Hank became a quick and close friend of mine when I joined the State Senate in 1991. He was a bipartisan figure who understood progress could only be made by working together.

“As a well-respected man of his word, Hank stayed true to his convictions and always remembered why he became a public servant – to improve the lives of those he represented. From passing legislation to protect the environment to creating greater access to women’s health services, Hank’s hard work will last for generations.

“It was an honor to call Hank a friend and colleague. I have no doubt his legacy will live on in our great state. My prayers are with the McNamara family during this time.”
