WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez today issued the following statement on the eighth anniversary of the Virginia Tech tragedy:

“Eight years after the Virginia Tech tragedy, we remember and pay tribute to the young lives senselessly lost, including New Jerseyans Matthew LaPorte, Michael Pohle and Julia Pryde. We are once again reminded that more needs to be done to keep our children safe when we send them off to college. From making sure colleges send timely warnings to our children on campus, to pushing for common sense gun laws so that no parent has to describe what happened to their loved one at the hands of a madman, I will do everything in my power to ensure that none of us will ever have to say that my thoughts and prayers are with the parents and loved ones of another person tragically gunned down in our community.”
