NEWARK, NJ - U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today released the following statement on the passing of Joseph Fornarotto, commander of the Belleville-Nutley Disabled American Veterans Chapter 22:

"I am very saddened to learn of the passing of my good friend and a devoted veteran, Joe Fornarotto. Joe was a member of the greatest generation who served his country in the Second World War. But I will always remember Joe Fornarotto as a tireless fighter for the rights and honor of his fellow veterans. That is why it meant so much to me to have him stand with us earlier this month as we announced the passage of legislation to help restore veterans' health benefits. He will be missed as we continue to fight and make sure that those who stand in defense of America will never be forgotten by their fellow Americans. My thoughts and prayers are with Joe's family, friends and all who miss him."
