WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today voted in favor of the Protect Women's Health from Corporate Interference Act that would restore the contraceptive coverage requirement guaranteed by the Affordable Care Act and protect coverage of other health services from corporations who want to impose their beliefs on their employees by denying benefits.

"It's incredibly alarming that in 2014 we are arguing over whether or not corporate CEOs should have the right to deny female employees the control over their own health care decisions. Yet here we are because Republicans have chosen to double down on the Supreme Court's all-male discriminatory decision and block the legislative fix we need to restore equal access to health care coverage. This fight is not over by a long shot. A woman's family planning and health care decisions should remain where they belong, between her and her doctor - not her boss."

Menendez is an original co-sponsor of the bill and joined other Senate Democrats in January in filing an amicus brief in support of the government's position in the cases of Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc and Conestoga Wood Specialties Corp. v. Sebelius.
