Menendez Returns to Moonachie for Reopening of Bazzarelli Restaurant

Senator calls upon House to pass the remaining $51 billion in Sandy relief

NEWARK, N.J. - U.S. Senator Robert Menendez returned to Bazzarelli Restaurant in Moonachie to celebrate the 42-year-old family-owned business' re-opening after Superstorm Sandy's flooding forced it to close. Senator Menendez last visited Bazzarelli Restaurant on December 14, following his testifying before the U.S. Senate Committee on Small Businesses and Entrepreneurship in support of the Sandy Relief Package.

"It just shows the indomitable spirit of this family and, by virtue of that, of New Jersayans," said Senator Menendez. "But Mr. and Mrs. Bazzarelli had to go through a lifetime of savings and encumber debt. This is a perfect example of why we need the Congress, the House of Representatives, to finish passing the rest of supplemental emergency appropriations bill. The Bazzarelli's could get a grant. Other businesses like the Bazzarelli's could get a grant. I call upon the House of Representatives to pass it as quickly as possible so we can pass it through the Senate again, get it signed by the President, and we can look a terrible storm in the eye and say you can't beat us here in New Jersey."
