Washington - US Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today released the following statement on the passing of Clarence Clemons, the legendary saxophone player beloved and adopted New Jerseyan who played a crucial role in Springsteen's musical career.

"All of us in New Jersey, and music fans across the country, mourn the passing of Clarence Clemons. The Big Man leaves a big hole in the heart of New Jersey and in the hearts of Bruce Springsteen fans everywhere. Today, our thoughts and prayers are with the Clemons family, with Bruce Springsteen and the members of the E Street Band, and with the people of Asbury Park and everyone who has ever been to The Stone Pony and heard the Big Man play that big horn. He will be missed."
