Menendez on Puerto Rico’s Protests

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Senators Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), the Highest Ranking Latino in Congress, released the following statement on the ongoing protests in Puerto Rico:

“The misogynistic, homophobic and insensitive comments made by the Governor and his closest allies in those chat messages have no place in public service. The people of Puerto Rico have suffered enough during recent tragedies and Governor Roselló’s actions have made the job of those of us who love the island and its people much more difficult in Congress under a President that has not shied away from his open disdain of Puerto Rico.  Ultimately, is up to the people of Puerto Rico to raise their voice to demand the change they want. And from where I stand, that voice is loud and clear.”
