Menendez, Lautenberg Announce Federal Funding for Maywood Fire Department

WASHINGTON, D.C.-U.S Senators Robert Menendez and Frank R. Lautenberg (D-NJ) today announced that the Maywood Fire Department will receive a federal grant totaling $8,550. The funding is awarded through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Assistance to Firefighters Grant (AFG) program.

"Our dedicated firefighters need to be ready to respond to any emergency, and they risk their lives every time they answer a call. That's why federal funding like this is critical,"said Senator Menendez."Thanks to this aid the Maywood community will be safer and I will always fight to make sure our communities are protected."

The funding for this $8,550 AFG grant will go to the Maywood Fire Department for safety and operations.

The AFG program provides funding to enhance response capabilities and to more effectively protect the health and safety of the public and emergency response personnel. These grantscan be invested in training,protectiveequipment,fitnessprograms, modifications to facilities,and supplies that support firefighting operations and safety.
