WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Bob Menendez, a senior member of the Senate Banking, Housing, & Urban Affairs Committee, questioned Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson on the controversy over his attempt to purchase a $31,000 dining set for his office, delaying implementation of the Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing rule, and the $3.5 million less for fair housing programs in HUD’s budget request. Menendez also asked about HUD removing references to “inclusive communities” and “communities free from discrimination” in their mission statement.
