Menendez Calls on Congress to Immediately Pass Reauthorization of 9/11 Zadroga Act

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez went to the floor of the U.S. Senate to implore Congress to support 9/11 first responders, who were sickened as a direct result of exposure to the toxins at Ground Zero, and immediately reauthorize and fully fund the James Zadroga Health and Compensation Reauthorization Act before it expires tomorrow. Sen. Menendez wrote the original Zadroga Act to extend the Victims Compensation Fund, which is set to lapse next year if the reauthorization bill isn’t passed.

The legislation is named after New Jerseyan James Zadroga, the New York City Police detective who was the first 9/11 emergency responder to die as the result of illness caused by exposure to toxins at while working at the World Trade Center site following its collapse.
