NEWARK, NJ – U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker today announced the awarding of an $8.6 million Title X grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office of Family Planning to the New Jersey Family Planning League (NJFPL) to provide comprehensive reproductive and sexual health services to low-income New Jersey women, teens and men.

“This federal funding will help provide critical healthcare services to New Jerseyans who otherwise could not afford them,” said Sen. Menendez. “We need to do all we can to remove the barriers denying women access to healthcare. When the state has decided to zero-out funding for women’s health, it’s important that the federal government steps in to provide these essential services.”

"Title X grants mark critical investments the federal government makes each year in the reproductive health of New Jersey’s most vulnerable women, men, and adolescents,” said Sen. Booker. "Supporting successful programs like Title X allows us to expand affordable reproductive care and education to those who need it most while improving health outcomes.”

This Title X grant award will support 10 provider agencies, comprised of 49 health centers in all 21 New Jersey counties. It is estimated that at least 95,000 patients will receive services in the upcoming year thanks to this funding.

“The Title X family planning services grant award provides valued and needed financial resources for the New Jersey Family Planning League service delivery system that supports quality, affordable reproductive health services for thousands of New Jerseyans at 49 health centers located throughout the state,” said Joseph Alifante, President & CEO of the New Jersey Family Planning League. “Our network of provider agencies reflects a diverse and vital component of New Jersey’s public health infrastructure for low-income women, men, and adolescents.”
