Menendez, Booker Announce $7.5M in Federal Funding to Revitalize Communities, Increase Housing Options

NEWARK, N.J. – U.S. Senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker today announced the awarding of a combined $7,522,150 in federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Community Planning and Development (CPD) to support the revitalization of communities across New Jersey.

"Individuals, families and entire communities benefit when we increase and improve affordable housing options," said Sen. Menendez, ranking member of the Senate Banking Subcommittee on Housing, Transportation, and Community Development. "This funding will help New Jersey communities meet their critical local housing needs, revitalize neighborhoods and expand economic opportunity for all. Our communities and economy are stronger when we make investments like these that allow all of us to move forward together."

“All New Jerseyans deserve the stability and dignity of a roof over their head,” said Sen. Booker. “Federal investments like these allow New Jersey to expand access to affordable housing and provide services to low-income families, making our communities safer and more prosperous.”

The funding announced today comes from three grants designed to revitalize struggling neighborhoods and expand access to affordable housing. They are: The Community Development Block (CDBG) Grant, Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) and the HOME Investment Partnership (HOME).
