Karin Elkis to Serve as State Director to Menendez

Newark - U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today announced that long-time senior aid Karin Elkis will serve as State Director, overseeing the Senator's two state offices in Newark and Barrington.

"Karin is seasoned, smart and a well-respected leader in New Jersey's government and political circles," said Menendez. "Over the last three decades, Karin has served in senior posts for the State's top Democratic officials and leaders, and has been a trusted, key advisor to me since I joined the Senate. Karin's reputation is stellar and I'm proud to have her at the helm of our efforts to provide services to my constituents across the State."

Karin's experience in New Jersey politics and government spans 30 years.She worked as South Jersey Director for U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg during the 1980s, then for U.S. Senator Jon S. Corzine until he left for the Governor's office in 2005, and most recently for Senator Menendez since he was first appointed and then elected to the U.S. Senate in 2006.

Karin began her career in New Jersey politics as a Chief of Staff to former Assemblyman Marty Herman.

Karin lives in Haddonfield with her husband, attorney Steven Weinstein of Florio Perrucci Steinhardt & Fader and former partner to Blank Rome, LLP. Karin and Steve have three children, Noah, Lara, and Asher.
