WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez today posted the following message on Facebook directed to students of New Jersey-based Star Career Academy, a for-profit training school that abruptly ceased operating:

Transcript:

“What’s happened to you is outrageous. Getting a higher education takes time and costs money, and no student working hard to get ahead should wake up one morning and find out they've been kicked to the curb like you have.

“Some of you are just weeks from completing your certifications. Many of you have taken out thousands of dollars in loans and have nothing to show for it.

“I know you have questions—and so do I—and I am working to get answers. To start, if you have a federal student loan you may be to able have that loan forgiven. Click on the link attached to this message and find out if you qualify. If you have a private loan, this site can help guide you, too.

“No student should have to pay for their school’s mistakes. And every student should be able to complete the studies they started.

“As difficult as all of this must be, just know you're not alone. I am fighting for you.”
