Every ten years, the U.S. Census counts every resident in the United States to determine how the U.S. government will distribute more than $400 billion in federal funds, as well as to apportion congressional seats. For each New Jerseyan that does not return the 2010 Census questionnaire, New Jersey will lose up to $14,000 in federal funding per person over the next ten years. Every person counts and we all depend on your participation for a complete count, so that we can bring back the federal funding needed for our schools, hospitals and emergency services, including important programs like SCHIP and Medicare.
