MyCentralJersey: Senators announce nearly $3M to combat opioid crisis in New Jersey

U.S. senators Bob Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-NJ) have announced that the New Jersey Department of Law and Public Safety has been awarded nearly $3 million in federal funding to bolster law enforcement efforts in cracking down on the illegal distribution of heroin and other opioids across the state, according to a press release.

Politico: Coast Guard agrees to long-term fix for Portal Bridge delays

The Coast Guard agreed in March to institute the rules as a short-term solution after facing pressure from U.S. Democratic Sens. Bob Menendez and Cory Booker of New Jersey. Until the rulemaking process is complete, the Coast Guard will extend the temporary restrictions, which prohibit most marine traffic on the Hackensack River from crossing under the bridge in Kearny, N.J., between 5 and 10 a.m. and 3 and 8 p.m.
