If not for federal aid pledged to the PATH system in Hurricane Sandy's wake, much of the railroad's storm damage would not have been repaired by now, and the commute for many of its 270,000 riders would be longer and less convenient, Port Authority Executive Director Patrick Foye said today.

Foye joined Sen. Robert Menendez and Rep. Albio Sires at the Harrison PATH station to thank them for helping secure a total of $1.3 billion in federal Sandy aide, including a $250 million reimbursement from the Federal Transit Administration that the two federal elected officials announced this afternoon.
