On Sept. 11, 2001, northern New Jersey lost more than 180 fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, friends and neighbors.  

After all, our region is inextricably linked to New York City. We’re just a bridge, a tunnel or a train ride away, and so when the bright lights of Manhattan dimmed that day, the nation and New Jersey lost so much...

Several police officers and firefighters took turns reading the names of the Bergen County residents killed that day.
