Victims of Hurricane Sandy who feel they were short-changed by FEMA attended a workshop Monday to learn about how they can have their cases reviewed.

Nearly 100 people showed up for the free informational clinic in Brick Township, WCBS 880’s Peter Haskell reported.

Sen. Robert Menendez, D-N.J., said the system failed.

“I believe this is an opportunity to get it right,” Menendez said.

The problem was all too familiar: Homeowners paid for their flood insurance, but couldn’t collect on the value of the policy.

“Many of them feel like they got 30, 40 cents on the dollar,” said Sue Marticek, who heads an advocacy group at the Jersey shore.
