WASHINGTON -- Though U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez opposed the Iran nuclear deal, he criticized President Donald Trump for refusing to certify the agreement, calling his decision "more about campaign promises and less about our national security interests."

"Instead of alienating our allies," Menendez said, "the president should be leveraging certification to get their commitment to join our efforts to more robustly counter the Iranian regime's indisputably nefarious behavior."
