Sen. Robert Menendez introduced a new bill that aims to shield medical patients from financial ruin.

If passed, The Medical Debt Relief Act would stop credit agencies from using paid-off or settled medical debt collections in judging applicants' creditworthiness...

...“This simple, common-sense legislation will ensure that otherwise credit-worthy consumers are able to find affordable credit with they can use, as we all do, to buy a home, buy a car to get to work, take out a loan to start a business,” Menendez explained.
