The Jersey City Fire Department received $1,163,728 in a federal Assistance to Firefighter Grant to improve safety operations.

The AFG program is administered by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA.)

“There is no more selfless job than that of a firefighter,” said U.S. Senator Robert Menendez, who along with U.S. Senator Cory Booker, and Rep. Albio Sires and Donald Payne, helped obtain the competitive grant. “Investing in firefighters is an investment in our own safety and the safety of our families. This grant will help ensure Jersey City firefighters have the tool they need to protect themselves and keep their residents and the community safe.”
