Hoboken Catholic Academy is being awarded nearly $1.2 million in federal Sandy relief funding for storm-related repairs, it was announced yesterday by U.S. Sens. Robert Menendez and Cory Booker of New Jersey.

"Unfortunately, communities all over the state are still recovering from the devastation brought on by Superstorm Sandy," Booker said in a press release. "These much needed relief funds put the Hoboken Catholic Academy back on track to continuing their success academically and in the community."

Four hundred students were displaced after the storm hit in October 2012.

The storm devastated the academy. The wreckage included three feet of water in the gymnasium and six feet in the basement, a buckling and sagging wooden stage and 4,000 gallons of oil spilled into the crawl space under the building.
