NEWARK, NJ - U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-NJ) today announced the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is awarding the City of Oceanport $3,696,437.80 in federal Sandy relief funding for storm-related repairs and $2,985,948.00 for the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) to repair areas in Monmouth Beach and Sea Bright.

"Superstorm Sandy damaged areas all over New Jersey and communities must make sure our buildings and structures are more sound and sustainable than before the storm,"said Sen. Menendez."This funding will help Monmouth County repair and rebuild, in turn keeping our communities vibrant and our citizens safe. I vow to keep supporting our local communities as we continue moving forward on the road to full recovery."

"Especially during these summer months, New Jersey's coastline contributes so much to our state's economy," said Sen. Booker. "It is essential we continue to rebuild the Sandy-damaged beaches and communities along the shore. I'm grateful to FEMA for this funding that will help New Jersey families, businesses and natural areas continue to recover and prepare for future storms."

Funding details follow:

  • $3,696,437.80 will go to the City of Oceanport for the use of contractors to replace Borough Hall, which was destroyed by Superstorm Sandy.
  • $2,985,948.00 will go to the NJDEP to repair sea walls in Monmouth Beach, Sea Bright and North Sea Bright that were damaged by Superstorm Sandy.

The President signed the Superstorm Sandy Supplemental Appropriations bill into law last year, bringing the total Sandy aid enacted by Congress to $60.2 billion. The funding package included federal aid to help homeowners, businesses, and communities recover, and resources to rebuild coastal, transportation, and water infrastructure.
