HO-HO-KUS, NJ - U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today paid his respects to the family of Waldwick Police Officer Christopher Goodell, who was killed last week in the line of duty, and released the following statement:

"In the course of protecting the people of Waldwick, Patrolman Christopher Goodell was tragically struck down in the line of duty. We honor his sacrifice. We honor his life. And, as we mourn the loss of yet another of New Jersey's finest, I hope we take this time to remember all of the officers who risk their lives each and every day for all of us.

"A decorated Marine Corps veteran, Patrolman Goodell served his community and this nation with honor and distinction. He dedicated his life to protecting others and deserves our gratitude and appreciation.

"I extend my heartfelt sympathies to Patrolman Goodell's family, his fiancé and the entire Waldwick Police Department. My thoughts are with them during this difficult time."
