Menendez Questions Bernanke on LIBOR Scandal
July 17, 2012
Washington – Earlier today U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) questioned Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke on the recent LIBOR scandal during a Senate Banking Committee hearing in Washington.
Menendez said the most recent allegations on LIBOR “exposes a culture of greed, cheating, lying - at least in one large bank, and probably many more. It goes to the integrity of our financial system and the lack of faith the American public has in it. I know that some of my colleagues here bristle at regulation, but it seems that this is an industry that on its own won’t work with the integrity that the public deserves.”
