NEWARK, NJ - U.S. Senators Robert Menendez and Cory Booker (both D-NJ) today announced $2,687,547 in federal Sandy recovery funding for the Passaic Valley Sewerage Commission to repair the Supernatant Treatment Building damaged as a result of Superstorm Sandy. The funding is provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) Public Assistance grant program.

"As our communities continue on the path to full recovery from Superstorm Sandy, federal relief grants are vital to help rebuild critical public facilities that were damaged or destroyed by the storm," said Sen. Menendez. "I will continue to do everything I can to make sure New Jersey communities receive the resources necessary to come back better and stronger than before."

"Superstorm Sandy not only ravaged many New Jersey homes, it also caused severe damage to critical public facilities that residents rely on daily," said Sen. Booker. "The grant announced today makes it possible to repair a critical piece of sewerage treatment infrastructure. I will continue to fight for funding that enables all of our state's public services to recover fully from Sandy and meets the needs of New Jerseyans."

FEMA provides funding for these projects directly to the State. It is the State's responsibility to ensure that the eligible sub-grantees receive these awards. Following the State's review process and upon receipt of appropriate documentation, they will provide funds to the sub-grantees on a reimbursable basis.
