Senator Menendez To Host First Twitter Town Hall

Will take questions on oil and gas prices, what can be done to ease pain at the pump & energy policy

Washington - U.S. Senator Robert Menendez (D-NJ) today announced on Twitter that he will be hosting his first Twitter Town Hall to discuss the state of oil and gas prices, what he's doing to help ease pain at the pump and energy policy. This Twitter Town Hall comes at a time when average gas prices in New Jersey are over $3.60 a gallon and diesel fuel is over $4.00. The half-hour Twitter Town Hall will take place on Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at 3:30 PM EST.

"New Jersey families and businesses are struggling with high gas prices and need relief from pain at the pump. And while there's no silver bullet, there are things we can and must do for short-term relief and long-term stability," said Menendez. "We're making progress, but we can do more. We can do a better job curbing oil speculation and work to keep American oil here in America. We can grow our renewable, alternative energy sources and work to achieve energy independence."

To submit a question for Senator Menendez's Twitter Town Hall focusing on oil and gas prices and energy policy, Twitter users simply need to tweet their question along with the hashtag #AskMenendez.

"Hosting my first Twitter Town Hall provides yet another opportunity for me to directly hear the concerns of New Jerseyans. I have over 16,000 followers on Twitter and I actively read their comments and feedback. It's important to me to engage with my constituents in new ways and that's why I'm looking forward to this virtual town hall with New Jerseyans on Twitter," Menendez added.

During the March 28th live Twitter Town Hall, Senator Menendez will answer a selection of Tweeted questions via Twitter and will also participate in a live video-stream on his website:
