New Jersey officials have a message for President Obama: “kill the drill” — a reference to his administration’s new proposal to open up the Atlantic Coast to oil exploitation.

“It’s a bad deal for New Jersey and the entire Atlantic Coast,” said Sen. Robert Menendez, a Democrat. “It’s not in our collective interest.”

Menendez and fellow Democrats Sen. Cory Booker and Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. sent Obama a letter Friday urging him to consider removing all areas off the Atlantic Coast from consideration. They said they will work to convince the administration to do so.
