When asked to comment on the award he received for service to the community, 18-year-old Seth Alicea said: "I feel like 'Thank you, but I should be doing this'."

Earlier this month, Sen. Robert Menendez honored 31 young volunteers at the annual Congressional awards ceremony held at Seton Hall Law School. The silver medal is the second in a series of awards Alicea has received from Congress for his outstanding service in four areas: Volunteer Public Service, Personal Development, Physical Fitness, and Expedition.

Alicea regards his bronze level recognition from last year as step one.

"I felt like I needed to do a lot more." So when it came to achieving silver level recognition, he doubled his efforts to reach the higher quota of volunteer hours, as did the rest of the silver recipients.
